OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Responsible for selling and promoting our product line to a wide range of accounts and customers the successful incumbent will be responsible for sales and business development activities and for achievement of personal sales targets within an assigned territory. 

 

Candidates should possess 3 – 5 years previous industry related sales experience.   Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong initiative and well-developed negotiation, project and account management skills are required.

Window & Door Salesperson

Estimator / Designer

 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE

The window & door estimator/designer develops plans to meet customer requirements and estimates the cost of materials and labour.  He or she develops plans and specifications for new home and /or commercial construction and renovation projects, compiles lists of materials from blueprints or customer requests or specifications.  He or she may take part in sales calls, and regularly estimates the cost and quantity of materials and labour necessary for specific projects.  The estimator/designer must perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the level of service to customers and to avoid placing a disproportionate burden on other employees with similar job tasks.

 

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

  • Explain the need for and the proper use of materials to the customer.

 

  • Up-sell features and benefits to customers.

 

  • Understand and be able to explain building code requirements to customers.

 

  • Prepare lists of materials based upon blueprints or customer specifications.

 

  • Accommodate the customers prescribed consumer budget.
  • Manually/Electronically estimate both the material and labour requirements for projects.

 

  • Supply customers and / or management with accurate estimates on a timely basis.

 

  • Customer site visit calls as required.
  • Make regular site visits to projects to maintain effective flow of product to project as well as address any concerns.

 

  • Participate in meetings training sessions, conferences, etc., when appropriate.
  • Suggest changes in rules, policies and / or procedures when you believe such changes would improve efficiency, profits, sales, overall operations, and / or morale.

 

  • Work on special projects when they are assigned by your supervisor after determining a mutually agreeable degree of priority in the context of your other responsibilities.

 

  • Ensure all required paperwork is completed properly and in a timely manner so as not to impede the flow of operations.

 

  • Ensure all displays and display product are in proper working order and clean at all times

 

  • Create an effective filing system to ensure proper documentation and tracking of product and projects

 

  • Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.

 

  • Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense.  Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.

 

  • Follow safe job procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Manual.

 

 

EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED

 

  • Ability to work co-operatively in team atmosphere.

 

  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and suppliers.

 

  • Read, comprehend, and interpret information relative to your position presented in written and printed formats, as well as pertinent data stated in numerical and / or statistical form to prepare designs and estimates promptly and accurately.

 

  • Operate equipment necessary to this position safely and efficiently including computer, drafting software, FAX, telephone, etc.

 

  • Have experience and understanding of designing, estimating, and blueprint reading.

 

  • 1-2 years experience in the construction industry.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.

You serve our customers to ensure they get the building products and services they need, by ordering and arranging for all materials required for building projects or packages. Your day will include pursuing all leads for sales of buildings through farm calls, phone calls, personal contact and marketplace awareness and assisting customers in planning projects.

When UFA is supplying labour, you will supervise all stages of construction to ensure work is progressing to standards, schedule and specifications. You will work with the Marketing Coordinator to develop marketing and advertising plans in conjunction with the Store Manager as well as sell building packages and building supplies to UFA members and customers.

You will directly sell, or be a resource for the sales of other products or packages requiring building material knowledge or expertise.

 

Qualifications: You have a Grade twelve diploma with 5 - 7 years of related experience or post-secondary diploma or certificate with 1 – 2 years of related experience. You are knowledgeable and experienced in all phases of farm building and housing construction, direct sales, reading blue prints and estimating buildings. On site construction or contracting experience would be an asset.
