Job Description:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Sales & Purchasing, a Wall Panel Designer at Trail will confidently create the structural framework that supports walls in all sorts of buildings. You ensure your designs align with architectural drawings, customer specifications and building codes. Together this optimizes the wall panels for efficient production of a top tier product, resulting in customer satisfaction every time.

THE HUSTLE ENVIRONMENT: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week. • Occasional non-standard work hours or overtime as business requires • Office environment • Busy, high volume • Travel required - <10% - mileage reimbursement • This position is based in Edmonton.

HOW MUCH TIME WE WANT TO SPEND WITH YOU: Full time, permanent

STRATEGIC FOCUS AREAS: 1. Be the mastermind behind the structure that holds it all together. 2. Read and understand architectural plans and specifications. 3. Draw wall panels using industry standard CAD/CADD software. 4. Keen eye for detail, ensuring superior product quality. 5. Reviews architectural plans and building codes. 6. Utilize knowledge of design standards and procedures when completing drawings. 7. Enjoy working within a multidisciplined design team environment. 8. Collaborate with design team and production teams to optimize panel designs. 9. Superior problem-solving skills, approaching without hesitation. 10. Work directly with customers to seamlessly mitigate customer concerns, providing solutions to management to improve processes and customer service 11. Master communicator possessing clear and effective communication aptitude, both spoken and written Plus – may perform other responsibilities as assigned

SKILLS THAT SEAL THE DEAL: Bachelors’ degree or post secondary or technical training courses in Engineering, Architecture or Drafting. • Certificate, Diploma or courses in drafting technology from a recognized technical institution. • 1-3 years of CAD drafting experience, especially in wall panel or component drafting. • Intermediate technology literacy in standard office software applications. • 1-3 years in residential building industry experience focusing in wood frame assembly. • Knowledge of part 9 of the National Building Code Alberta Edition 2023 • Minimum 3+ years of wall panel design experience. • Building Industry experience: min 3+ years (preferred). • Knowledge of building codes, construction methods, design principles and building materials. • Confident in sharing innovative solutions and new concepts. • Strong organizational skills with an excellent ability to work well under pressure and mitigate unexpected situations calmly and effectively. • The ability to motivate other Design team members, leading by setting a positive and professional example. • Class 5 drivers licence with clean drivers abstract.
