buildHER – a WRLA Committee

Empowering Women to Build a Better Future

buildHER combines the strength and action of "build" with "HER," symbolizing the WRLA's commitment to shaping the future, by providing the tools, resources, and community to make it happen.

Whether you're looking to start a new career, advance in your current field, or simply connect with like-minded women, buildHER is here to support you every step of the way.

Our mission is to support, uplift, and empower women in the building sector through various initiatives focusing on recruitment, retention, advancement, and overall inclusivity.

Our Initiatives

Mentorship and Networking
Through "buildHER " programs, we pair experienced women in the industry with newcomers to foster mentorship and support. Additionally, we organize networking events to connect women professionals, facilitating knowledge sharing and career advancement opportunities.

Community Engagement
We partner with local schools, colleges, and community organizations to promote careers in the building supply industry to young women. By participating in career fairs, hosting informational sessions, and offering internships or apprenticeship programs, we expose students to the vast opportunities within our industry.

Promotion of Role Models

We believe in the power of visible role models. buildHER highlights successful women leaders through interviews, case studies, and speaking opportunities at our events. These stories inspire and motivate other women to pursue and excel in their careers in the building sector.

Diversity and Inclusion

At buildHER, we are committed to creating a welcoming environment for all employees. We address unconscious bias, promote respectful communication, and ensure equitable opportunities for career advancement and promotion. We actively advocate for women's representation in leadership positions through transparent processes.

Resource and Support Groups

buildHER provides a platform for women in the industry to share experiences, offer mentorship, and advocate for gender equality. Our support groups are a space for women to connect, find resources, and build a stronger community within the building sector.
