Job Description:

Position Summary:

All employees of the Kenroc Building Materials team will demonstrate respect and ethical conduct, will work safely, provide excellent customer service, and will work with the team to support superior performance in the achievement of both individual and company goals. Reporting to the Branch Accountant, the Accounting Administrator is required to ensure all financial transactions are processed accurately and on time. The Accounting Administrator will be required to perform a variety of accounting duties on behalf of the Company and is required to protect the Company’s value by keeping information confidential.

Key Responsibilities:

A general understanding of all accounting functions is required to succeed as an accounting administrator.

 

Job duties and functions will include:

• Assisting the Branch Accountant in performing month-end and year-end close procedures.

• Daily processing of vendor invoices and credits, verifying invoices to purchase orders and ensuring proper approvals and coding are applied.

• Preparing and processing regular payments to vendors by cheque and EFT.

• Conducting regular inquiries with customers on delinquent receivables and communicating payment expectations at the direction of the Branch Accountant.

• Daily verification of cash, cheque, and card totals.

• Daily processing and distribution of customer invoices and credits electronically and by mail.

• Assisting the Regional Accountant with maintaining and updating product costs in ERP system.

• Posting incoming payments to customer accounts with accuracy and investigating any discrepancies.

• Generating monthly customer statements and reconciling customer accounts.

• Providing accurate and effective document preparation and records management in accordance with records retention policies and procedures.

• Responding to, investigating, and resolving account inquiries from customers and vendors.

• Ensuring vendor statements are reconciled monthly, as received.

• Producing daily, monthly, and ad-hoc reports for internal and external use. As a member of the Kenroc Building Materials team, employees may be requested to contribute to duties outside of the role’s main scope of responsibilities as per required qualifications, licensing, and safety certifications. This will include providing backup for other functions within the Accounting Team, based on experience and skill level.

 

Skills & Qualifications Education:

• GED, post-secondary education considered an asset

• Bilingual in English and French an asset Work Experience

• 1-3 years of work experience as Accounting Clerk, Accounting Administrator or Assistant, or other relevant business administration experience Training/Certificates

• Excel training considered an asset

• Experience with accounting software an asset Competencies

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.

• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records

• Demonstrated attention to detail by providing accurate and timely information using Excel and other platforms or databases

• Be proficient in Microsoft Office (including TEAMS) and other technology applications relevant to the role.

• Highly motivated in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and unsupervised
